§ 2-161. Offices combined.

  • (a)

    The office of director of public works created by Ordinance No. 13-93 is replaced with the combined position or office of village engineer/director of public works who shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the board of trustees.

    (b)

    The village engineer/director of public works shall be a qualified engineer with a degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, shall be a registered professional engineer under the laws of the state, and shall be experienced in municipal engineering and public works.

    (c)

    As director of public works, the village engineer/director of public works shall supervise and direct the operation of the department of public works and shall in every regard have the position, status, powers and duties set out in Ordinance No. 13-93.

    (d)

    As village engineer, the village engineer/director of public works shall review subdivision plats submitted to the board of trustees and plan commission; review all studies, data and plans dealing with public property or public works; submit his related recommendations; and perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the mayor from time to time.
